In Western China, at an altitude of 3,380 m, two parallel railway tunnels 32.6 km long are currently being driven through the Guanjiao mountains. It is the longest tunnelling project that has ever been undertaken in China. Putzmeister technology was commissioned to secure the excavation under extreme conditions using wet-shotcrete.

Highest Precast Building In Dubai

An Al-Futtain-Carillon joint venture was the main contractor on a US $45 million staff accommodation complex at the rapidly developing Silicon Oasis complex outside of Dubai. The 400 apartment development is the highest fully pre-cast building in Dubai and includes three swimming pools and underground car parking.

Contractor Trials GPS Technology On New Road

One of the contractors working on the RN12 is the French company, Sogea-Satom and important pieces of equipment during the works are two Cat 14M motor graders equipped with AccuGrade dual GPS systems with cross-slope capability. These are part of an extensive fleet of Cat equipment that includes seven track-type tractors, five excavators, two wheeled loaders and six graders.

Long-reach Boom Pumps and Bulk Material Conveyors

RWE Power AG in Hamm, Westphalia, is investing around EUR 2 billion in the construction of one of the world’s most efficient coal power plants with a total output of 1,600 Megawatts. The placement of around 250,000 m³ concrete of different property classes and consistencies is predominantly carried out using Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pumps with up to 62 m placing boom height and two stationary PM placing booms.

Demanding Conditions at Baryte Mine

The only mined source of barytes in the UK, and Scotland's last deep underground mine, is found at Foss in Perthshire. The Foss mine came into production in the mid-1980s to supply in excess of 50,000 tons of barytes annually to meet the demands of the North Sea Offshore oil industry needs. Some of the baryte also goes to the medical and pharmaceutical industries where it is used as a contrast medium for x-rays.
