Joining the current range of Komatsu standard crawler excavators in the 20 t class or smaller, in Dash-8 specifications, is the PC160LC-8. Komatsu add another Dash-8 to sub 20 t range of tracked excavators

Joining the current range of Komatsu standard crawler excavators in the 20 t class or smaller, in Dash-8 specifications, is the PC160LC-8.  With a maximum weight of approximately 18 tonnes, the new model is sized for general earthmoving and construction site excavations.

In line with Dash-8 specification, it has an advanced machine management system, increased operator comfort, improved safety, low fuel consumption with high productivity, and a low environmental impact.

Power is supplied by a Komatsu SAA4D107E-1 engine providing high torque for better performance at low speed and low fuel consumption.

The new Komatsu ecot3 engine technology reduces NOx and particle emissions, fuel consumption and noise level. The engine is certified for EPA Tier III and EU Stage IIIA emission regulations. To further reduce the machine’s emissions, a Diesel Particulate Filter is also available.

As with all models in the series, it is available in a wide range of configurations, with a number of different arm lengths, two styles of boom, and in a special, factory-built, Low Ground Pressure (LGP) variant giving just 0.2kg/cm².

The wide and spacious cab includes a newly designed heated air suspension seat with a high backrest. The seat height and longitudinal inclination are easily adjusted with a pull-up lever.Spacious cab for operator comfort

The wide and spacious cab includes a newly designed heated air suspension seat with a high backrest. The seat height and longitudinal inclination are easily adjusted with a pull-up lever.

An automatic air conditioner, an air filter and a positive internal air pressure (60 Pa) combine to prevent external dust from entering the cab.

The operator can select from a choice of 5 main working modes to optimise the performance to the best match the task at hand, regardless of the combination of equipment that is used. The variable “Economy” mode has proven its efficiency in levelling or for loose material excavation where it gives the best balance between productivity and fuel consumption.

For when the going gets more demanding, such as in bulk handling, the operator can switch to “Power” mode for higher productivity.

Easy to read digital displayInside the cab, noise level is at 68dB(A), which Komatsu say is ‘a class leading low’, and many standard fit features enhance operator safety and comfort.

An automatic climate control system, with controls integrated to the wide-screen TFT monitor panel, allows the convenient setting of preferred working conditions. The heated air suspension seat featuring a supportive high back helps to create an exceptionally comfortable working environment.

To further increase ease of use and versatility, one additional hydraulic circuit, with sliding proportional thumb switch control is fitted as standard, as well as a factory installed quick coupler circuit.
