cwmags: W 220 completes Wirtgen's new generation of large milling machines

W 220 completes Wirtgen’s new generation of large milling machines

Development of the new generation of Wirtgen large milling machines has now been completed with the launch of the W 220. The new model shares as many as 80 innovative features as found on the other models on the range - the W 150, W 200, W 210 and W 250 cold milling machines. The features are all designed to maximise on the machines capability and performance.

With a 571 kW engine, the W 220 has to power to meet the demands of the high-performance milling machine segment. Up to 900 tonnes per hour of asphalt can be reclaimed in non-stop operation under optimal jobsite conditions. The basic version of the new large milling machine is equipped with a 2.20 m milling drum unit. An optional interchangeable unit is available with a milling width of 2.50 m. The maximum milling depth for both milling drum units is 35 cm.

The new generation of Wirtgen cold milling machines covers a broad spectrum of useful milling widths ranging from 1.20 m to 4.40 m.

Wirtgen’s smart machine control system, WIDRIVE, tmakes the job of the operator simpler while guaranteeing fuel-saving and eco-friendly milling.

The proven FCS Light system (Flexible Cutter System) allows the most diverse milling tasks to be executed with various milling drum configurations quickly and optimally adapted to the relevant application.

cwmags: Bell Equipment is releasing the Mark 7 generation of its B40D and B45D Articulated Dump TrucksBell Launch Mark 7 ADT model

Bell Equipment is releasing the Mark 7 generation of its B40D and B45D Articulated Dump Trucks which, the company claim, will deliver increased power and better driveline tuning to keep these popular workhorses out in front as class leaders.

The B40D Mk7 truck is powered by a 335 kW Euro3 spec engine, which will effectively improve the power-to-weight ratio by 6.5%.

The B40D has a nett increase in power of 8.3%, which has been achieved by the new engine plus reduced driveline drag. The reduced driveline drag has been achieved through the introduction of a Bell-designed Wet Disk Brake (WDB), which has already been successfully incorporated on the B30D, B45D and B50D.

Cooling for the axle oil now takes place in the axle and not in a separate cooler at the rear of the cab. The WDB system still has forced circulation but now includes an inline filter on the B40D, which will improve service times and reduce oil change intervals. The present oil change interval is 2 000 hours but Bell is hoping to extend this value after further testing by the engineering division.

“Completing the upgrade on the B40D and B45D are software changes affecting the shift point of the transmission. The computer intuitively changes to the correct gear based on the dynamics of what the operator is currently doing to allow for a smoother gear changes and less ‘gear hunting’.

“All in all, we are confident that our customers will be extremely satisfied with our latest generation of large trucks and the performance and fuel benefits they will bring to their operations,” saysBell Equipment Product Manager: ADTs, Trevor Musliah.
