300 metric tons are lifted from the vessels in the sea water area. A total of ten steel stfening girder panels have been already installed on the Nazimov Peninsula side and eight panels have been installed on the Russky Island side.

have recently completed a very important constructon milestone having installed the frst four stay cables that are 135 meter long. Installaton of 580 meter long stay cables will be a unique operaton because nobody in the world has ever dealt with such length.”

A total of 10 main steel stfening girder panels have been already installed on the Russky Island side and the channel span panels will be then lifed from the sea water.

As part of preparatons to these operatons, a unique crawler crane, Liebherr LR 11350, had to be used to turn the installaton rig lifed earlier to the elevaton of 70 meters, to positon it so as to face the strait.

The space to conduct this maneuver was restricted within the narrow span deck secton because of the impressive size of the rig which is 52-meters long, 18-meters wide, 15-meters high. The rig plus a balancing counterweight weighs about 365 metric tons.

The operaton management plan was designed by the Giprostroymost Insttute, and the highly challenging operaton has been completed by specialists of the SK MOST Group of Companies with the technical support provided by Sarens, a Belgian company.

Forming the massive piers
