The MT31 artculated dump truck is being phased out with the introducton of the new Doosan DA30 ADT which has a payload of 28 tonnes and several features in response to customer demands for ever increasing power and performance. With the high cost of fuel, customers are also asking for the most fuel efcient soluton.

Performance, productivity and fuel efficiency

Driven by the 5 cylinder Scania DC9 Stage IIIB compliant diesel engine the gross power output of 276 kW (375 HP) is 8% more than the older model. More engine power enables more torque - now 1,873 Nm/1300 rpm - an increase of 30%. New engines are necessary to comply with emission regulatons but if the power and performance is optmised along with the transmission and hydraulics, signifcant benefts can accrue.

Doosan has done all that is necessary and claim that the increased engine power, combined with SCR technology, delivers the ‘best-in-class’ fuel consumpton with a higher top speed of 58 km/h (34 mph).

Contributing to the overall 8% reduction in fuel consumption (under standard working conditions) is the new ZF transmission with 8 forward and 4 reverse gears. The fully automatc transmission with smooth Tiptronic gear-shifing (both automatc and manual gear functons are available) allows the operator to concentrate on working conditons and improves the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels.

The DA30 has permanent 6-wheel drive with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie designed to ensure that all 6 wheels are in contnuous contact with the ground for maximum tracton in demanding ground conditons. Turning radius is

7.6 8 m. Body dump angle is 70° and width is 2,900 mm. The artculaton hinge is positoned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution even during maximum turning and ensure full contact between the tyres and the road surface.
