Contractors_World_International_Intermat_2012

The circus comes to town, but for how much longer?

Some 200,000 visitors to Intermat is expectedOver the course of the next issue in this, the International edition and in our sister publication - Contractors World- UK & Ireland - we will be taking a closer look at what is coming up, and reporting from the show on what manufacturers are saying and then following up with more detail reports. For those with an interest in equipment, a fest of information over the next few months. And, further information will be available in a special Contractors World - Intermat Supplement - a digital supplement that will be updated continuously giving even more information than is possible in the normal magazine.

Where possible, we will also include video content but although companies are quick to promote their new innovations, they are being exceedingly slow in recognising the interest readers of digital magazines have in video content. We are working to bring you more, but it is slow.

At the middle of February, exhibitor space sold is in excess of 375,000 m² and the number of exhibitors is expected to exceed 1,500. With numbers like this and the support of the majority of the major companies, it is still a show worth visiting, even though, as usual in any city hosting a big event, hotel and associated costs have gone through the roof. Or you could just choose to stay where you are and read all that’s important in Contractors World.

Bobcat Launches New TL470HF Telescopic HandlerBobcat Launches New TL470HF Telescopic Handler

At Intermat, Bobcat is launching the new high horsepower TL470HF telescopic handler, [HF=High Flow] expanding the range of new generation TL models. The company would not be drawn on whether the HF feature will be part of additional models in the range.

Powered by the 97.5 kW (130 HP) Perkins 1104D-E44TA diesel engine, the new telehandler offers higher horsepower and torque for improved performance and has a maximum travel speed of 40 km/h on the basic model which will still be available.

The high horsepower engine offers significantly increased torque, enabling improved performance and productivity. Combined with a new load sensing pump delivering a hydraulic flow of 190 l/min, the TL470HF model offers faster cycle times at a lower engine speed when performing both single and combined boom movements.

The telescopic handler has a maximum lift capacity of 3.5 tonne and a maximum lift height of 7.0 m. The capacity at full lift height is 3.0 tonne, while the maximum forward reach is 4002 mm and the lift capacity at full reach is 1500 kg.
In a statement Bobcat says “Like the other new TL models, the TL470HF is designed to handle demanding jobs in construction applications.” This could infer that additional new models are to be introduced at Intermat or referring to the existing range which is over 1 year old.
