Foundation projects ahead of schedule

Vietnamese contractor and foundations specialist, Thiên Ân is ahead of schedule on its two contracts in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City by rotatng a fleet of two Liebherr HS 855 HD duty cycle crawler cranes and a LB 28 rotary drilling rig, between projects – the 24 storey C.T Plaza Nguyen Dinh Chieu and 10 storey Hoa Sen University Ofce Building with three basement levels.

The two crawler cranes were initially used on the University Office Building for the fabricaton of a 150 m long diaphragm wall around the 1100 m² site. The wall was completed to a depth of 22 m x 800 mm width ahead of schedule in a 2 month contract. The cranes were then moved to the C.T Plaza project where they are being used to construct a 280 m long diaphragm wall, excavated to depths of between 40 – 50 m. Fited with a 2.8 m grab, both HS 855s are preparing 6 m wide panels, taking up to 15 hours to excavate and the concretng fnished within 1 day. Each 6 m panel incorporates an interconnectng waterproofng PVC coatng to a depth of 17 m; 2 m below the lowest basement level.

Piling contract

On completon of the diaphragm wall on the Hoa Sen University Ofce Building a third Liebherr unit, a LB 28 rotary drilling rig has been used to drill a total of 68 x 1 m diameter piles to a depth of 64 m. Taking up to 7 hours to drill, each pile is poured together with a reinforcement taking up to 5 hours.

As piling nears completion plans are underway to transfer the LB 28 to the C.T Plaza project to drill a total of 155 piles to a maximum depth of 84 m. These include 39 x 1.8 m diameter piles with inserted beam supports to a depth of 16 m, together with 25 x 1.5 m diameters also with beam supports

ZED fleet for Rome

CTE has Supplied The City Of Rome With 18 Articulated Aerial Platforms For The Department Of Environmental Protecton And The Environment Since September 2011 the City of Rome’s Department of Environmental Protection and the Green has been using a fleet of CTE truck-mounted art iculated platforms, 17 of the ZED 21J model and a ZED 29J. The

contract was awarded following a tender in May 2011 to a task-force comprising CTE, Roscini, an

experienced Nissan concessionaire based in Rome, and Tecnoalt, a specialist platorm rental, sales and service which is part of the CTE group and also based in Rome.

Contracts for government agencies are increasingly provided by companies working alongside each other to provide various services. To meet the requirements of the tender the task force had to only ensure the supply of the equipment but also deliver after sales services such as extended warranties, direct assistance at the customer’s headquarters, replacement vehicles in case of downtme over 48 hours, and more.
