Hanse Golf Course Design proposal for the course was selected by Rio 2016 in March 2012 after a thorough
selection process.
The golf course will be built in Barra, the area that will host more than half of the Olympic sports in 2016. It is
a privately funded project that will be located approximately five kilometres from the Athletes’ Village and seven
kilometres from the Main Press Centre (MPC) and the
International Broadcast Centre (IBC).
Mineirão Stadium is ready
to get back to football

Renewed for the FIFA World Cup in 2014, the
Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte is ready to host
again matches of the most popular sport in Brazil. Stage
of great duels in its history, the traditional stadium was
closed for works for two and a half years. As planned,
it will receive the Confederations Cup matches in 2013
and, in 2016, and is one of four stadiums outside of Rio de Janeiro to get the football in the Olympics. The other
three partner cities are Brasília, São Paulo and Salvador.

Thanks to the renovation, the stadium counts 64
thousand seats, 90 box seats, a restaurant with a view
of the field and VIP area lounges. The parking area
counts 2.8 thousand spaces and the press area has a 3
thousand journalist capacity.
Now, the stadium has an esplanade, an 80,000 m²
outdoor area with a 65 thousand person capacity
around the stadium. It will be one of the great public
spaces in Belo Horizonte, a suspended park with 7,000
m² for commercial activities, with restaurants, bars and shops.
Among the amenities of the New Mineirão is the roof equipped with technology to capture solar energy and
transform it into electricity. In addition, rainwater can be reused, as the stadium counts with a six million litre
reservoir, able to supply part of the Mineirão for three months.
