New Road Involves Large Earthmoving
Road 65 is under construction in the north of the country and it requires excavating and hauling out 1.5 million cubic metres of materials.
To do this, the contractors, Hilkiyahu Ltd, are using a large Hitachi Zaxis-5 excavator. It has already clocked up over 1,100 working hours on the project.
The excavator was supplied with a 4.2 m³ rock bucket and two-year/6,000-hour extended warranty.
Owner, Hilki Bernstein, whose company is based in Eliad in the south of Golan Heights said:
We are working as a sub-contractor on the third section of the new road, which is 13 km long. Our responsibility is to complete all of the earthmoving, drainage, blasting and breaking of the rocks, and add the base layers to the road, before another contractor lays the asphalt.
In addition to the excavator on site, we are operating a ZX470LCH-3 in a nearby quarry, which is supplying aggregates for the road.
BBA Pumps On A1 Road Widening
In October 2014, Boskalis Nederland commissioned the delivery of a BBA BA-C500S11 D711 high flow pump unit with an operating efficiency of 86%.
The auto prime pump provides a capacity of 5500 m³/hour (24000 US GPM) and a maximum head of 37 mwk (120 ft).
The pump is driven by a Stage IV Volvo Penta TAD1374VE diesel engine. This provides a power of 375 kW and is said to deliver the lowest specific fuel consumption in its class (207 g/kWh). (Exhaust gas is treated using AdBlue).
It package is extremely quiet, lightweight and sized to fit into a 20 ft container. The total weight of the pump unit is just 10.800 kg.
This met Boskalis Technical Services requirements for high capacity, high efficiency, able to fit in a 20 ft container and weighing less than 12,000 kg.
The set was quickly deployed in a first project in Muiden where the A1 highway is being widened and partially rerouted.
