Contractors World - Intermat Preview I

Design features include a large, fully glazed pano-

ramic cab giving the driver a clear view to the drum

edges and edge pressing device at all times.

An innovative feature is the glazed cab floor pro-

vides an unobstructed view of the roller drum.

A large tank capacity permits continuous com-

paction for extended work sessions.

Water can be topped-up quickly and safely un-

der pressure from ground level (standard equip-

ment). Gravimetric water filling via the inlet locat-

ed at the top is another option.

Future-proof engine

technology

Both models are equipped with latest engines.

With its 75 kW power plant, the DV+ 90i exceeds

the requirements of Tier 4i / EU IIIB, and the DV+ 70i with

its 56 kW engine even satisfies the Tier 4f / EU IV values.

Both power plants filter the soot particles using a

diesel particulate filter (DPF) as part of the exhaust gas

purification.

The mid-mounted engine together with the two-part

water tank ensures an even, constant weight distribution.

Combined with the split drums and pivot steering, they en-

able the production of high quality asphalt paving, even in

tight corners.

New compact rollers for

earthworks

Hamm AG is expanding its earthworks range with two com-

pact rollers - the H 5i and H 7i, with 4.5 t. and 8 t overall

weight respectively and features that will interest construc-

tion companies and plant hirers.

They are extremely easy to operate and offer ergonomical-

ly ideal working positions. They have a remarkable climb-

ing ability of 50~60% and generous ground clearance - up

to 350 mm depending on model.

Hamm is keen to point out that these are not scaled

down version of the large models. They are the first in a

totally new series designed and developed from scratch.

One important innovation is to be found in the traction

drive: the wheels are no longer driven via a rear axle, but

via wheel motors. It is this concept that gives the compac-

tors their climbing capacity and much greater ground clear-

ance compared to their predecessors.

The new drive concept also brings another benefit. The

two compactors are remarkably short. The H 7i, is just 4.40

m, making it the shortest machine in this weight class in

the world.

A new feature is the optional Motor Stop System. It re-

duces diesel consumption by automatically switching off

the engine under certain conditions,

Many variants and options

With a Kubota engine (output 55.4 kW, Tier 4f / EU IV

compliant) the smaller compactors in the H series are well

equipped for compacting surfaces of all kinds.

When it comes to the compaction systems, there is a

choice between a smooth drum, padfoot drum and the

newly designed two-part padfoot segments. A levelling

blade can also be added. A VIO drum, capable of compact-

ing with either vibration or oscillation, will also be available

for the H 7i.
