Innovations Designed to Make an

Operator’s Life Easier and Safer

Most visitors to major trade

shows such as Intermat spend

too much time looking at the big

machines on display.

They do not realise the inter-

esting new products and innova-

tions available as ‘add-ons’ for

excavators and wheel loaders.

If you use excavators or wheel

loaders and are visiting Intermat,

Contractors World recommends

you call by the Engcon stand.

This Swedish company has

several innovative solutions -

perhaps the best known is the

Tiltrotator.

EC214 – new

tiltrotator for excavators

weighing between 9 - 14

tonnes

Available soon to markets around the world is a new size

tiltrotator designed for excavators in the popular 9-14 t

class. Within this class are backhoe-loaders, and the new

EC214 is the optimum tool to give these adaptable ma-

chines even more flexibility.

Engcon’s Design Manager, Fredrik Jonsson said:

“We know that the EC214 is much sought after,

particularly among backhoe owners,”

This is the fifth model in the Generation 2 line and

shares the same innovative solutions as the other mod-

els. With this introduction, there is a model for excavators

ranging from 3.5 to 26 tonnes.

New advances include the tilting potential on the EC214

which has been increased to 45°. There is now space for

machine control sensors; integrated lubrication channels,

all connected to a single lubrication point. It is now possi-

ble to adjust the lateral play on the new tiltrotator without

dismantling it.

New swivel for High Productivity

The major new feature on the EC214 is that it is equipped

with a new swivel, and in combination with the NG10 valve

it delivers flows of up to 100 litres per minute, making it

possible to operate tools requiring high flow rates on extra

attachment points.

The new swivel is also adapted for an electrical ”chan-

nel”, as the EC214 will be fitted with Engcon’s Q-Safe quick

hitch lock as standard in the long term.

The new design provides several advantages. The

reinforced frame has radically improved performance, pro-

viding greater breakout force and higher torque. At the

same time, a new type of valve is contributing to lower fuel

consumption.

Like the other models in the Generation 2 range, the tilt

cylinders are prepared for load bearing valves (standard on

control system 9), which is a requirement in order to oper-

ate with the combination of tiltrotator and pallet forks.

International innovation

award for Q-Safe

At the international GaLaBau exhibition in, Germany,

Engcon’s Q-Safe quick coupler was awarded the 2014

GaLaBau Innovations Medaille.

Engcon was honoured in tough competition with 133

other companies – and as the sole company in the excava-

tor segment – for Q-Safe, a coupler that greatly reduces

the risk of accidents caused by dropped tools.

Stig Engström, engcon’s founder and owner said:

“The award is an acknowledgement that Q-Safe,

with its unique solutions, is the world’s safest quick

coupler. This spurs us on to continue our broad

investment in the Non Accident Generation.”

Q-Safe, suitable for all excavators in the 6 to 25 t

weight class, provides threefold safety thanks to hydraulic

monitoring, a mechanical locking function and electronic

monitoring.

With Q-Safe, the operator simply cannot connect a tool

incorrectly or release a bucket by mistake. This eliminates

the human factor as a cause of accidents. Q-Safe is also

factory prepared for EC-Oil, a fully-hydraulic solution that

connects tool hydraulics automatically.
