Roger Lindley Reports
Under the slogan ‘Be Part of Something Bigger’, Liebherr once again did not disappoint the 580,000+ visitors to Bauma 2016. The massive three storey stand, covering a ground area of 14,000 m², featured more than 60 machines from across the ever widening product portfolio.
This year placing more emphasis on technology and Liebherr solutions to aid productivity and machine management.
From the very beginning until the very end, thousands of visitors flocked around and through the Liebherr stand, virtually making it impossible to get by at times when the large mining truck and shovel were started up.
In the relative peace of a dedicated press room, Contractors World was lead through the more important products. Some have been covered in earlier issues of this magazine.
Upgraded Fast erecting Cranes
With over 1,000 units, the 81 K.1 and 65 K.1 are the most successful cranes in the Liebherr range. The company is optimistic that further sales will result from the latest upgrades available from Autumn 2016.
The lifting capacity of both cranes has been increased by up to 20% and their jibs have been extended by 3 metres. There is now an external cabin available.
The cabin can be installed quickly and easily on any new K crane using its own load hook.
Mid-sized wheel loaders break with tradition
New Generation of Wheel Loaders
Also available towards the end of the year is a new generation of mid-size wheel loaders that meet all current emission standards.
The L526, L536 and L546 wheel loaders are built for demanding applications, with larger axles and reinforced steel structures. Productivity is assured with 2.1 m³, 2.6 m³ and 2.8 m³ bucket capacities respectively. Fast cycling times are assured, with engines rates at 103 kW, 114 kW and 123 kW, a feature demanded in recycling applications.
