he new Cat L Series medium wheel loaders -

950L and 962L - are more powerful and fuel-ef-

ficient than predecessor models made possible

by featuring significant drive-train and hydraulic-system

refinement, operator safety and convenience enhance-

ments as well as retaining proven technoligies such as

Z-bar linkage, Cat Performance Series buckets, and op-

tions such as automatic traction control, enhanced ride

control system.

The 950L and 962L use a productive and fuel-efficient

Cat C7.1 ACERT engine with a maximum gross power

rating of 195 kW (265 horsepower) and approximate

operating weights from 18 000 to 19 000 kg (40,000 to

42,400 pounds).

The updated and refined Cat ACERT engines offer

increased engine power by 22% in the 950L and 8% in

the 962L (compared to H series) to greatly improve ma-

chine performance and response.

The 950L and 962L use a 5F/3R countershaft pow-

er-shift transmission.

In addition, the Integrated Braking System (IBS) reg-

ulates downshifting in proportion to the required braking

force, resulting in smoother downshifts and increased

deceleration control.

To expand the versatility of L Series models with work

tools such as forks, grapple buckets, dozer blades, rakes,

and plows, the available Cat Fusion Coupler System al-

lows fast tool changes and provides performance virtu-

ally identical to pin-on tools. The coupler’s advanced

wedging mechanism creates a tight, rattle-free attach-

ment and long service life.

Fuel efficiency

The machines are designed for maximum fuel efficiency

and lowest fuel consumption while maintaining high

performance. The new models are not only more
