Reach And Accuracy Demanded - continued
Sipral will also be supplying walk-in gates to the building and various types of drive-in gateways.
For a European project, this is an out-and-out exceptional enterprise. It is marvellous to work with such a creative team as that of BIG Architects,
says Ing. Leopold Bareš, Sipral’s founder.
Claus Hermansen adds:
We are happy to be working with Sipral. You know, a collaborative relationship cannot be fully encompassed in a mere contract. Projects bring a lot of surprises and are defined and distinguished mainly by communication between partners.
If the company supplying the technical elements fails to communicate with the architects and acts as if its only key contractual partner were the project owner, things cannot proceed smoothly. But Sipral understands architects like us and strives to go the extra mile for us. That is one of the reasons why we like working with them so much.
Construction Elevator Inside The 63 Meter High Chimney
Ajos is installing an elevator in the big chimney on Amager Resource Center. It is quite a special assignment under very tight spaces.
Two installers are working in the hot, dusty and restricted space, but the more fitter Hans Hildebrandt Nielsen still think that it is a learning process with many challenges.
The 63 m tall chimney hangs on the side of the building at a height of 52 m.
Inside the chimney they are installing an Alimak SE 300 elevator with a capacity of 300 kg or four people. It is positioned between the flue and the stainless steel shell.
Ajos perform the contract with the elevator in the chimney for Kone, who has the overall elevator contract on construction.
Hans Hildebrandt Nielsen says:
It is a permanent lift and therefore something other than the construction hoists we normally mount for new construction, and so are the surroundings and the professional challenge very different.
We are starting from the bottom and build up the mast sections of 1.5 meters. It is a special mast, designed not adding too much weight. So we are also constantly challenged for new solutions. We work a lot with adaptations and produce special hardware because the mast is mounted under special conditions.
In addition to the many technical challenges, it is also hard physical work. Engineers are constantly climbing up and down the ladder, built inside the chimney. It is especially hot when the sun is shining on the external steel chimney.
Safety is a high priority and engineers wear all the appropriate safety clothing and harnesses. Just to get up to the place where we work, takes time. Therefore, they have to work some long days.
Alimak SE 300 is a rack elevator. There are 10 levels in the chimney.
The task of building a permanent elevator is not entirely unfamiliar to Ajos A / S. The company has supplied elevator solutions including several bridge projects, and Ajos typically have a subsequent agreement to provide service.
