Innovative Solution to Water & Waste HandlingInnovative Solution to Water & Waste Handling - continued

As the area is a National Park, the works had to be done with minimal disturbance to the existing environment.

As with the work at Morbecque, REA needed a suitable chamber and cover option to enable long-term access and security to the new hydraulic water system.

This project was not only uniquely challenging because of its remote location, but also because of its need for a chamber to withstand large volumes of snow during the winter months.

Protective legislation assigned to this natural park placed further logistic problems and the project had to minimise any environmental impact. Once more, the STAKKAbox ULTIMA Connect was chosen for its light weight and flexibility, as well as the speed of installation.

To cover this chamber, a bespoke AX-S steel frame and composite cover was designed with the ability to withstand a 15 tonne load. This meant that the structure could easily withstand the heavy snow pressures in the winter. This structure was delivered to the 2000 metre heights via helicopter, with pallets carefully positioned on site, ready for contractors to begin installation.

Once on site, the access chamber was installed in just half a day. This rapid installation meant environmental impact was greatly reduced, and the natural surroundings remained unscathed.

Rapid Growth Shows Acceptance

The rapid growth of the company clearly demonstrates the acceptance of its innovate range of products in countries around the world. Cubis products are installed in telecommunications networks, alongside railways and motorways, on waste water treatment works and in power stations.

A long standing relationships with companies such as British Telecom, Network Rail and Virgin Media also shows that the solutions are applicable to other utility companies and various applications in the construction industry - particularly in infrastructure works.

Cubis was established in 2009 as a result of a merger of three companies in the access chamber and cover industry. Today, the company has seven manufacturing sites in the UK and Ireland and exports to over 25 countries worldwide.

In 2015, Cubis completed the acquisition of BVCI Pty Ltd., an Australian manufacturer of access chamber systems with locations on Australia’s east coast. This marks an exciting new chapter in a history of growth.
