USA: New appointments announced by Manitowoc

Manitowoc has announced Scott Keckler as the new vice president of Manitowoc Crane Care, Americas. In this role, he will provide strategic planning, direction and management for all of the Americas Crane Care teams and will report to Bob Hund, executive vice president of Crane Care worldwide.

Manitowoc has also named Gilberto Ferreira as new director of EnCORE Americas, Manitowoc Crane Care’s remanufacturing program. He will report to Scott Keckler, the newly appointed vice president of Manitowoc Crane Care for the Americas.

USA: Updated AEM Compact Excavator Safety Manual now available –English and new Spanish-English version

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has significantly updated its compact excavator safety manual and now offers a new Spanish/English version of the material.

The AEM Compact Excavator Safety Manual was developed under the guidance of the association’s Attachment Manufacturers Council and Compact Loader/Compact Excavator Council. AEM safety manuals illustrate typical worksite and equipment hazards as well as safe practices in equipment preparation, operation, maintenance and transport. They are ideal for group safety sessions on the job or in the classroom as well as individual usage.

USA: Caterpillar Paving Products Inc. and Weiler Inc marketing agreement

Caterpillar Paving Products Inc. and Weiler Inc. have announced that the two companies have signed an exclusive global marketing agreement.

The agreement grants Caterpillar the exclusive rights to market select Weiler brand asphalt products worldwide. The portfolio of products includes remixing transfer vehicles, road wideners, windrow elevators and small asphalt pavers. The equipment will be distributed through Caterpillar’s worldwide network of independent dealers.

The agreement expands the product line that Cat Dealers offer to paving customers and demonstrates the commitment of Caterpillar Paving Products Inc. to providing solutions to the worldwide paving industry. “With the addition of specialized paving support equipment and other niche products for the wide variety of worldwide customers, Cat Dealers are now in a position to bring total solutions to our customers,” said Lieven Van Broekhoven, Worldwide Sales and Marketing Manager for Caterpillar Paving Products Inc. “We have a long history of working with Weiler, and this agreement cements our relationship even further.”

USA: ‘Green Roads Summit’ at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011

Increased interest in green highways is a natural extension of the fast-growing green building movement in construction. A new ‘Green Roads Summit’ at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 will offer attendees ready-to apply green construction techniques and the latest environmental information affecting jobsites, including green roads programs.

The daylong event, which includes a closing reception, is March 24, 2011 and is open to all show attendees. CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 will be held March 22-26, 2011 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA.

The Green Roads Summit is a collaboration between CONEXPO-CON/AGG and Construction Materials Recycling Association (CMRA), U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Australia: Cat highway trucks introduced

The first-ever Cat on-highway trucks received an enthusiastic response from the more than 300 people in attendance at a launch event in Uluru, Northern Territory, Australia.

The new products – the Cat CT610 and Cat CT630 – were developed by NC2, the joint venture between Navistar and Caterpillar. The trucks are being assembled in Tullamarine, Victoria and will be sold through a newly formed Australian network composed of select Cat dealers.
