Engineering firm paving the way for future habitat development options in Bahrain

International engineering consulting firm ByrneLooby has been commissioned to undertake a pilot study which could lead to the restoration of seagrass in certain areas of Bahrain’s marine environment.

The ByrneLooby office in Bahrain are undergoing a pilot study to relocate seagrass in order to enhance existing habitats with the overall aim of increasing marine life within an area of reclamation. If successful, the project could be the start of much larger scaled operations providing many developers across the Kingdom of Bahrain with a tangible option for environmental compensatory measures. While the replantation of seagrass has been attempted elsewhere in the Middle East, it is understood to be a first in Bahrain.

Terex Construction secures Saudi Arabia sales contract

Terex Construction has announced an international sales deal in Saudi Arabia. The agreement, which was coordinated through its distributor in Jeddah, The Middle East Development Company (MEDCO), will see 20 Terex site dumpers manufactured and supplied before the end of 2015.

The specialist two-tonne power tip units, which are produced at the Terex facility in Coventry, UK, will be used in the development of Saudi Arabia’s Metro project in Riyadh. Part of the Riyadh Public Transport Project (RPTP), the infrastructure development programme will feature in the country’s largest public transport network and create more than 15,000 jobs nationwide.

CDE Strengthens Position in the Gulf

CDE Global, the manufacturer of modular materials washing equipment, has announced a new addition to the team with the appointment of Mr. Ruchin Garg as Business Development Manager for The Gulf.

Mr Garg will oversee the development of the CDE project portfolio in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman and joins the CDE team having previously been involved in the development of the CDE Asia mining business in India.

Speaking about the appointment CDE regional manager for Middle East and Africa, Mr Iain Walker said

“Ruchin is a welcome addition to our team as we seek to build on the successes we have enjoyed in recent years as we help operators in the region to enhance the efficiency and profitability of their operations. Our modular product range allows us to meet the demand for rapid deployment and minimum footprint which has grown significantly in recent years.”

CNH Industrial Announces New Licensing Agreement with Sumitomo (S.H.I.) Construction Machinery

CNH Industrial N.V. has agreed to enter into a new licensing agreement with Sumitomo (S.H.I.) Construction Machinery Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.

Under this new technology license and component supply agreement, CNH Industrial will manufacture Sumitomo designed crawler excavators (models ranging from 13 to 35 tonnes) at designated plants within its manufacturing network. Start of production of the new localized models is planned for mid-2016.

This agreement also extends the existing Global Product Supply (OEM) agreement between CNH Industrial and Sumitomo (S.H.I.) Construction Machinery for the sourcing of excavators from Sumitomo plants.

Sumitomo has been a supplier to the CNH Industrial global distribution network since 1992 for models ranging from 7 to 80 tonnes. This next step will further strengthen the partnership between the two companies.

Suzanne Darié appointed Vice President Corporate Communication for sales region EMEA

Effective March 1st 2012, Suzanne Darié has been appointed Vice President Corporate Communication for Volvo Construction Equipment’s newly formed EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) sales region.

In her new role, Suzanne will report to regional president Tomas Kuta and be responsible for all corporate communication activities within the region, as well as being a member of the EMEA management team.

Suzanne, 42, holds a university degree in Communication from Pontificea Universidade Católica in Brazil. She started her career with Publicis Group in Brazil, where she spent seven years as events manager. She joined Volvo in 2005 as marketing communication analyst for Volvo CE Latin America and was appointed marketing communication manager in 2010. In that function, she managed the company’s Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) activities and was closely involved in the introduction of sister brand SDLG products in Latin America.

Costain announce key appointment in Middle East

Costain Energy & Process has appointed Fadi Atallah as Vice-President, Business Development, Middle East, with responsibility for developing strategic customer relationships and broadening our service offering in the Middle East region.

Fadi, a graduate of the American University of Beirut, joins Costain from GE Energy, where he was responsible for developing and significantly growing business in the region with key customers including GASCO, Qatar Petroleum and Saudi Aramco.

Israel: Unic Cranes Europe appoint dealer

Unic Cranes Europe has entered into an agreement with AMIR Engineering to be the exclusive dealer for Unic spider crane products in Israel.

Currently Israel’s leading supplier of aerial work and access platforms, with headquarters in Petach-Tikva, near Tel Aviv, AMIR Engineering will supply and service Unic’s full range of mini crawler cranes for the country.

Unic mini spider cranes are amongst the world’s most compact cranes with lifting capabilities from 0.995 tonnes to 6 tonnes. These versatile machines have been used for a wide variety of applications including steel erection, glass installation, roof-top operations, plant maintenance and more.

Middle East: Bell Equipment UK has appointed Mike Darch as its new regional manager

Following a growing level of enquiries, Bell has strengthened its ADT position in Middle East with the appointment of Mike Darch as Regional Manager

Mike has been transferred out of Bell’s UK headquarters and is now based at the company’s offices in Bahrain.

He has a strong knowledge of the Bell ADT operational capability and has had a great deal of hands-on experience with the machines, particularly in production environments on UK customer sites.

His remit in the Middle East is to increase sales, support and service and to reinforce the cost saving benefits of running Bell ADTs against competitor ADTs and other types of haulage machinery.
