Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (HCM) has recently commemorated its 40th anniversary. When it was still part of Hitachi, Ltd., the company manufactured and launched the Hitachi UH03, the first hydraulic excavator developed with Japanese technology. Since then, Hitachi hydraulic excavators have earned a strong reputation in the industry for being highly reliable products.
There have been several important milestones for the company over the past four decades. In 1970, HCM had a capital of 3.8billion Yen. A year later, the company introduced the world’s first hydraulic crane, the KH150. In 1972, its European subsidiary, Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV, was established in Oosterhout, The Netherlands.
Today, HCM has a capital of 81billion Yen, as well as 30 companies in Japan and 40 companies overseas. The company has clearly come a long way since 1970.
HCM’s President, CEO and Director, Mr. Kikawa, says: “We take great pride in the fact that HCM has earned society’s respect as a global construction machinery manufacturing company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. I would also like to express my appreciation to our predecessors for their commitment, as well as our customers, shareholders and business partners for their continuing support.”
