Perkins has announce that Bill Giunta has accepted the position of general manager, global sales and marketing, effective February 1, 2014. Bill, who is relocating to Peterborough, UK, to take up his new role, joins Perkins from Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division based in Georgia, USA, where he was commercial manager.
With commercial responsibility for marketing, branding, sales and product support for the Perkins engine brand, Bill’s extensive, global customer-facing experience in field service, sales and marketing, make him particularly suited to the role.
“I’m delighted to be leading the global sales and marketing team during an exciting time for the Perkins brand,” said Bill. “We’re working closer than ever before with our customers around the world, supporting both the integration of our machines into their applications, as well as on collaborative marketing activities, to ensure we’re all successful in today’s competitive marketplace.
“We continue to review and deliver new approaches to our marketing campaigns, which will support both the valued relationships we have with our customers’ today, as well as those we’re looking to work alongside in the future.”
Bill continued: “Across the sales and marketing team, we’re acutely focused on our customers’ needs. Our customers are our priority; so at next month’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 in Las Vegas, I along with members of the team will be spending time with and supporting our industrial OEMs who are showcasing their latest Perkins powered machines at this global event.”
This latest appointment follows that of Ramin Younessi as Caterpillar vice president with responsibility for the Industrial Power Systems & Growth Markets Division, which includes Perkins engines 18 litres and below. While Michael Wright, who had interim responsibility for the sales and marketing operation in recent months, pending Bill’s appointment, has taken up a position as Perkins’ business development director.
