One hundred and fifty Bell Equipment customers and media representatives gathered at the Bell Equipment Sales Southern Africa (BESSA) head offices at Jet Park in mid-November 2011 to officially welcome Liebherr excavators to the Bell product offering.
The South African manufacturer signed a distribution agreement in May with Liebherr, one of the world’s leading construction companies, which will see Bell distributing Liebherr’s tracked hydraulic excavators ranging from 20t to 85t, namely the R906C to the R974C into the Southern African and African markets.
Guests at the product launch were given a tour of Bell Equipment’s state-of-the-art Global Logistics Centre, which will play an integral role insofar as product and parts support for the Liebherr excavators, as it does for the rest of the Bell product range.
At the launch Bell Equipment Chief Executive Gary Bell said the company was proud and privileged to welcome Liebherr to its family of alliance partners.
“Our alliance partners are strong international companies the likes of John Deere, with whom we have been closely affiliated with for over 12 years, and Bomag, which is recognised worldwide as a leader in compaction equipment. One of the reasons that we have been able to collaborate so well with these partners is because we are all like-minded family businesses with the same family values. I, therefore, have no doubt that we will be able to develop a strong alliance with Liebherr.
“For many years we have been strategically working towards offering a one-stop shop for equipment solutions for our customers. By having Liebherr as a partner, we have fitted the final piece into the puzzle. While our previous range of excavators performed exceptionally well for us, we were limited because there wasn’t anything suitable to match our large Bell ADTs, which are used in mining and large construction projects. Now we are finally able to offer our customer larger-sized excavators that are ideal matches to the B35D through to the B50D.”
He added that Liebherr excavators were a natural choice as the company is one of the world’s leaders in its field and has a strong presence in the mining industry worldwide because of its quality products.
“The timing is also opportune because the majority of our large ADTs are sold into the mining sector and with the demand for commodities set to continue, we see huge potential in the mining sector.
“We are confident that the premium product and technical excellence offered by Liebherr, together with the world class support network offered by the 22 Bell Customer Services Centres in South Africa and over 40 Bell CSCs and dealers in Africa will be a win-win partnership for both parties and, most importantly, our customers.”
