Trimble Announces Machine Control System for Wheel Loaders

Trimble introduced today version 12.81 of its Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System. The new version further expands the mix of machines supported to now include wheel loaders. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to meet the contractor’s needs for construction technology across a mixed fleet and for all phases of the project life cycle.

The Trimble GCS900 version 12.81 release includes a new 3D configuration for wheel loaders, broadening the range of machine types supported. Contractors can realize a higher and more rapid return on their investment in technology by using Trimble machine control components on a variety of machines and for more applications.

Hitachi enters OEM agreement with Mecalac

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has announced that it has entered into an OEM agreement with Mecalac Baumaschinen GmbH (Mecalac). The agreement covers the manufacture of compact articulated wheel loaders complying with EU emissions Stage IIIB by Mecalac at its factory in Büdelsdorf, Germany.

More Braking Power For Easier Stopping on Terex Backhoe Loaders

Terex Construction, has announced an upgrade to its backhoe loader range. After VIN serial 3658, all Terex TLB 840, 890 and 990 loaders produced at the Coventry factory will be fitted with boosted brake technology.

The improvement is a response to customer feedback suggesting improvements as part of the continued drive to give customers the right product for the job. As a result, Terex has introduced the updated feature in order to maintain safe and effective braking performance while reducing operator fatigue.

Volvo CE pulls out of backhoe loaders and motor graders

Once promoted as a ‘very Swedish’ company, Volvo is today dividing loyalties with it’s Chinese partner, SDLG, “to aid profitiability” says the company. They are doing this at a time when other manufacturers are bringing off-shore production back to Europe or the USA, because of narrowing production cost differentials.

The company says that this transfer is to ‘improve profitability and reduce costs’. The company goes on to say that Volvo Construction Equipment will discontinue development and production of its current product line of Volvo-branded backhoe loaders and motor graders.

Wacker Neuson starts skid steer loader production in the US

Following on from the announcement in the latest financial figures, the Wacker Neuson Group has given more information on its plans for increased USA production. The company is building a production line for skid steer and compact track loaders at its US facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. The facility will go on stream in the first quarter of 2015, initially manufacturing four models.

The US is the largest market for skid steer loaders. “Our strategy is ‘in the region for the region’. So it makes sense for us to build skid steer loaders in the region where demand is strongest – North America,” explains Cem Peksaglam, CEO of Wacker Neuson SE. “We unveiled four loader models tailored to the needs of the North American market at the start of the year and received positive feedback from dealers and customers alike. Producing these products in North America will speed up time-to-market and enable us to adapt these high-quality, powerful machines more rapidly to the specific customer requirements of this core market.”
