bauma Africa renamed: BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA

New dates: September 15 to 18, 2015 in Johannesburg

The first event was held under the name of bauma Africa, and it celebrated a successful premiere with 754 exhibitors from 38 countries and 14,700 visitors from over 100 countries. As part of their cooperation on international construction machinery events, Messe München and AEM announced at bauma in 2013 their intention to set up a joint venture in Africa. This joint venture will be organizing the upcoming trade show as BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA. The event will retain the current successful exhibition team and its CEO Elaine Crewe.

Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München, explains:

“Both partners have agreed on the new event name of BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA. This new, joint name reflects the close and trusting cooperation between Messe München and AEM.”

New construction machinery trade show for southern Africa

Building on the undeniable success of the internationally famous Bauma fairs which take place in Germany every three eyar, the organisers are since established the bran in China, and the Middle East. Now they are further expanding their expertise with a new ‘Bauma’ for Africa.

Messe München International is expanding its international network for the construction machinery sector with the launch of a new event in South Africa. The first bauma Africa takes place in September 2013 in Johannesburg. Messe München will set up a subsidiary in South Africa to implement this event.

The orgnisation expects the first edition of this International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles to attract around 200 exhibitors and to take up around 20,000 square meters of exhibition space. In terms of attendees, the show is directed primarily at customers from Sub-Saharan Africa.

South Africa: Bell welcomes Liebherr to the family

One hundred and fifty Bell Equipment customers and media representatives gathered at the Bell Equipment Sales Southern Africa (BESSA) head offices at Jet Park in mid-November 2011 to officially welcome Liebherr excavators to the Bell product offering.

The South African manufacturer signed a distribution agreement in May with Liebherr, one of the world’s leading construction companies, which will see Bell distributing Liebherr’s tracked hydraulic excavators ranging from 20t to 85t, namely the R906C to the R974C into the Southern African and African markets.

Guests at the product launch were given a tour of Bell Equipment’s state-of-the-art Global Logistics Centre, which will play an integral role insofar as product and parts support for the Liebherr excavators, as it does for the rest of the Bell product range.

SOUTH AFRICA: Volvo dealer, Babcock, raises funds to fight HIV/AIDS

Volvo Construction Equipment’s dealer in South Africa has been praised for its innovative thinking and commitment to employees after winning an award for helping launch an HIV/AIDS testing and education program in the workplace.

Babcock, Volvo Construction Equipment’s South African dealer, topped the category for best progress in the 2010 Achievement Awards of the Swedish Workplace HIV and AIDS Program (SWHAP), an organization helping companies with Swedish connections to prevent the spread of HIV and reduce the effects of the pandemic.

CHINA: LiuGong open new subsidiaries and positive 3rd quarter figures

LiuGong Machinery Corp. announced the opening of three new subsidiary companies as it continues its rapid global growth. The subsidiary office headquarters will open in Singapore, Johannesburg and Dubai.

After announcing record sales, profits and export volumes the first half of this year, LiuGong executives reported the company’s third quarter earnings continue apace as the company posted total sales revenue of ¥ 11.75 billion (€1.29 billion, US$1.75 billion) a 61% increase from the same period in 2009
